Chris Matheson will address the Climate Strike Rally planned at Chester Cross on Friday (29th November) to announce his plans for Chester’s Green New Deal.
Focusing on Labour’s manifesto commitment to tackle the climate emergency with the most ambitious programme of climate action ever seen in this country, Mr Matheson will outline how a transformational Green Industrial Revolution will create decent new green jobs for local people, increase clean energy production, and make local homes warmer and more energy-efficient.
Chris said: “Labour’s Green New Deal is about the environment and much more. It is about tackling climate change and inequality though shared prosperity and energy, heat, water and economic security for all.
“Locally this means fighting for funding and building partnerships to decarbonise the industrial clusters in our borough, it means helping residents to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and it means re-imagining public transport in our city. It also means supporting all of the amazing local groups that we have in Chester who are raising awareness of environmental issues and challenging us all to think about sustainability and living greener lives.”
The rally at Chester Cross starts at 11.30am on Friday 29th November.
