CHESTER MP Chris Matheson attended the presentation of a cheque for £20,000 from the Postcode Lottery for the new St Mary’s Centre Handbridge last week.
“I am absolutely delighted about this news because the new community centre in Handbridge has already done so much to enhance the offer for local residents. This money secures more resources for the team and that can only be a good thing – especially when they are working so hard to tackle social isolation and engage with hard to reach groups in the community.”
Chris Matheson was the only MP in the country to write in support of an application to the Postcode Lottery in his area.
“Congratulations to Ted Graham and his team at St Mary’s and many thanks to the Postcode Lottery for this funding. I’ll always stand up for people in Chester – it was a brilliant application and the St Mary’s Centre deserves the money. If you need my help with your project, you know where to find me.”
Ted Graham from St Mary’s Centre Handbridge said:
“Receiving this award of £20,000 will make a massive difference to the way that our fantastic new community centre can be used and will allow us to accommodate more groups than would otherwise have been the case.”
