School Cuts

Cheshire West is amongst the 15 worst affected areas in the whole country – this on top of £57 million of cuts to our local council. I believe the government’s actions are dangerous and as a parent of children who go to school in Chester, I am concerned that the Tories cuts agenda is risking our children’s future.

That’s why I am writing to the Education Minister about cuts to schools in Chester, to highlight these concerns and I would like you to add your name to my letter below. We must show a united voice on issues that affect us locally.

Devastated by the financial cuts to our schools, and the subsequent effect on our children’s education and future. Please help!

The Labour Party manifesto hits just about all the priorities that all my family and friends care about. Perhaps real democracy, a hyperactive Chester MP and his colleagues, organised local and social media activism – such as has now helped deliver increased majorities for incumbents on top of an extra 29 Labour MPs to Parliament – etc., will begin to transform our electorate’s sense of its own responsibility for the Government that it deserves and what it doesn’t deserve (e.g. read The Guardian and Private Eye, etc.) and for the development of a diverse, locally sensitive, economically regenerating nation, focused on social integration, a shared purpose of which we can be proud and unlimited realistic aspiration for all.

I am desperately concerned about the cuts to school budgets and this can already be seen with gcse subjects being cut. Also I am very concerned that support for students with additional needs is also likely to suffer.

As a retired teacher with thirty years experience of teaching in Chester I am dismayed by these cuts which blight the future of our children, now they even want to deprive children of their school lunch, this is shameful in a so called developed country.
